Calderdale Council is composed of 51 councillors with one-third elected three years in four. The Labour Group has an overall majority and governs the Council, led by Councillor Tim Swift.
Our Labour councillors are active in their local communities and act as the voice of their constituents, raising any local concerns within the Council on a range of matters related to the work of the Council.
With the Tory Government’s increasing cuts to local government, being a councillor is one of the toughest – and most important – jobs in politics today. Despite difficult circumstances, Calderdale Labour councillors work hard to prioritise communities, protect vital public services and help people in need.
