At last Calderdale Council is able to move ahead with plans for a brand-new leisure centre at North Bridge.
Tilbury Douglas has been chosen to deliver the final designs and plan the build.
They have over 140 years of experience in the industry, and we look forward to working with them.
The new leisure centre will feature:
* A six-lane main pool + learner pool.
* A large gym & 3 fitness studios.
* A refurbished 8 court sports hall.
* Soft play for kids.
* A café & community area.
* Wellbeing rooms for health services.
* Accessible changing facilities.
* Eco-friendly features like air source heat pumps.
The contractors are also exploring moving forward with early works alongside the final design stage, speeding up construction, with full construction starting later in the year.
The scheme was paused following the disastrous Liz Truss mini budget, when costs sky-rocketed. We couldn’t write a blank cheque for costs that were out of control with inflation and leave local council tax payers with a big bill.
Rather than risk losing our leisure centre entirely that pause saved this project and now we can move forward with confidence. It will be worth waiting for.
